I made a poster of the opera 'Carmen' for the Royal Opera House design challenge 2020/21. The theme from the competition that I followed was symbolism. The red cape symbolises Don Jose's anger because red is considered an angry colour. The fire also represents his anger because angry people can be described as 'having a rage burning in them'. Fire can be destructive and cause death, so it also represents Carmen's death.
